Dr. Zeiad Yossry, Professor of Neurosurgery and Parkinson's Disease, participated in the International Congress on Neurosurgery and Spine Surgery at Ain Shams University, held from July 4 to 5, 2024. His participation included the pre-congress workshops titled "Practical Training in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery," which were held on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the Training and Development Center at Ain Shams University Hospitals. Dr. Zeiad Yossry presented a workshop titled "Deep Brain Stimulation for the Treatment of Dystonia."
Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a surgical intervention used to treat movement disorders such as dystonia when medication and various rehabilitation strategies are no longer effective in reducing symptoms. Deep brain stimulation involves directing a controlled electrical current through a specialized device to the area responsible for the disorder. Dr. Zeiad Yossry is committed to introducing the latest surgical methods and techniques in neurosurgery to fellow doctors in Egypt, aiming to advance the field of neurology and improve the quality of life for patients in the country.
